Darien Becker shares the process of designing Muddy Waters STEMinist Camp, Welty Environmental Center’s first week-long Girls in STEM summer camp, implementing GLOBE hydrosphere protocols with middle- and high-school-age girls. This program introduced campers to their watershed in a fun and messy way, encouraged them to view themselves as citizen scientists, and welcomed local professionals from various backgrounds to give campers an overview of what it means to be an aquatic biologist.
