Atmospheric scientist, professor, and Ned P. Smith Distinguished Chair of Climatology Ángel F. Adames Corraliza has been named one of the 101 Most Influential Latinos for 2026 by Latino Leaders Magazine. The annual recognition highlights Latino leaders whose achievements and influence are making a significant impact across their professions and communities.
The honor adds to a series of recent distinctions for Corraliza. He recently received the AMS Clarence Leroy Meisinger Award, which recognizes promising early-career scientists in the atmospheric sciences, and was named a MacArthur Fellow, one of the nation’s most prestigious recognitions for creative and impactful achievement.
Corraliza’s research advances understanding of tropical weather systems and atmospheric processes, contributing to improved forecasting and a deeper understanding of the Earth’s climate system.
