Today, the UW’s Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies begins to mark Earth Day, the ecological holiday created by the institute’s namesake, UW grad Gaylord Nelson LLB’42. Traditionally, Earth Day is April 22, but the UW honors Earth Week, and the Nelson Institute is hosting a two-day learning event that looks at the ways that environmental change is forcing relocation on many species — plants, animals, and even human populations.
