Aaron Alexander Chaired the AMS Student Conference at the AMS Annual Meeting

The 22nd Annual AMS Student Conference occurred in Denver CO on Jan 7th and 8th , with a record breaking 750 in person and 100 virtual attendees. Conference chairs Aaron Alexander (Water Resources Engineering @ University of Wisconsin – Madison), Holly Mallinson (Atmospheric Sciences @ University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) and Margaret Orr (Center for Climate Change Communication @ George Mason University) lead a team of 40 other student volunteers to curate a conference designed to inspire students in the weather, water, and climate nexus. Students were treated to talks centered on different pathways of traditional and non-traditional jobs for atmospheric science graduates, ways to prioritize mental health while in school and the workforce, and different ways to harness the open data revolution propelled by NASA’s Transform to Open Science Initiative.
