Dr. Mitkari is an Honorary Fellow at the Center for Climatic Research (CCR).
Her research focuses on satellite remote sensing, geospatial analysis, and machine learning application in Earth and environmental sciences. She has extensive experience studying the cryosphere, including glaciers, snow, and sea ice, using multisensor satellite observations.
Previously, she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) / Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS), UW–Madison.
At CCR, she is expanding her research into paleoclimate and land-cover reconstruction to better understand long-term environmental and climate change. She is particularly interested in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary collaborations that connect Earth and climate sciences with social sciences, climate policy, and broader societal challenges.
