The assumption of stationarity in traditional risk assessment is becoming increasingly insufficient due to the documented impacts of climate change on hydrometeorological hazards. This seminar will explore advanced methods and frameworks designed to address the non-stationary nature of precipitation as a process. These approaches aim to (a) reveal vulnerability hotspots, (b) improve the effectiveness of engineering design, as well as (c) inform strategies to enhance flood resilience under evolving hydroclimatic conditions. Emphasis will be given on quantifying the risk arising from the interplay of extreme rainfall and other hazards, such as storm surge in compound coastal flooding.
