Connecting Climate, Energy, Equity, and Resilience across Social Scales – Chelsea Schelly

Speaker: Chelsea Schelly

The changing climate impacts the stability of electrical energy access. The intersections of climate, energy, equity, and resilience are deeply intertwined with existing social systems across social scales. In this talk, Dr. Schelly will consider how climate, energy, equity, and resilience intersect at household, community, and grid scales. Her research experiences, which are largely based in northern rural communities and other parts of the midwestern US, demonstrate how the built environment, existing social vulnerabilities and social institutions, and personal human interactions all shape how humans experience the impacts of climate on energy and the implications for equity and resilience.
